The European strategy for 2030 further emphasizes a patient-centered, data-driven approach and transparent methodologies in the evaluation of medicinal products.

Germany and the Nordic countries have long applied this approach as a benchmark for evaluating and implementing treatment methods.

The Czech Republic at a Turning Point

In the Czech Republic, professional discussions are ongoing regarding the future framework for medical cannabis. The topic has been addressed at governmental expert meetings and within broader debates about potential legislative adjustments aimed at improving patient access for therapeutic use.

Osteoarthritis — a degenerative joint disease — is one of the most common chronic conditions worldwide. It affects over 520 million people, including more than 40 million in the European Union, and its prevalence increases with age. Typical symptoms include pain, swelling, stiffness, and reduced joint mobility, all of which can significantly lower quality of life.

Current treatments, based on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), corticosteroids, or opioids, alleviate pain but do not address the root cause — inflammation and progressive cartilage degeneration. Long-term use of these medications often leads to serious side effects.

As a result, researchers are turning their attention to alternatives that act more naturally and gently. One of the most promising options is cannabidiol (CBD) — a natural compound from cannabis, known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and analgesic properties.

🔬 New study confirms: nanoformulated CBD protects joints

Recent research has produced breakthrough results. A scientific team from SRM Institute of Science and Technology in India, in collaboration with Unique Therapeutics Global (Czech Republic), published a 2024 study titled “Nanoformulated Cannabidiol Attenuates Osteoarthritis-Induced Inflammation in Rats.”

The study demonstrates that nanoformulated CBD can reduce inflammation, protect cartilage, and improve joint function in an animal model of osteoarthritis. The tested preparation was a proprietary CBD nanoformulation developed by Unique Therapeutics Global.

“Our results show that nanoformulated CBD significantly suppresses the production of inflammatory molecules, protects cartilage cells, and restores balance in joint tissues,” said Professor K.M. Ramkumar, head of the SRM University research team.

Thanks to its nanoemulsion form, the active compound is better absorbed, has higher bioavailability, and provides longer-lasting effects. The study also confirmed high safety — laboratory animals showed no changes in liver, kidney, or blood parameters, even with long-term administration.

After approval by the ethics committee, the research is moving to the next step — clinical trials in osteoarthritis patients. The study will involve 60 volunteers over 90 days, testing nano CBD from Unique Therapeutics.

If clinical outcomes confirm the benefits observed in animals, the study will be evaluated and submitted to regulatory authorities in India as a foundation for registering a new drug for arthritis and joint pain.

Fournier’s gangrene is an extremely dangerous condition — a rapidly progressing necrotizing fasciitis affecting the genital and perianal region. It is known for its high mortality rate and, in conventional medicine, is typically treated radically: surgical removal of necrotic tissue, often involving amputation, and intensive care hospitalization.

In this particular case, however, something extraordinary occurred — complete recovery without amputation or invasive surgery.

Case from Brno: Patient refused amputation, chose an alternative path

In September 2024, our team was contacted by a patient from Brno with a confirmed diagnosis of Fournier’s gangrene. After hospital consultation, he was offered only one possible option: amputation and hospitalization under sterile conditions. The patient refused this route and opted for support through targeted natural therapy.

Under daily supervision, with feedback, photographic documentation, and regular consultations, the patient was treated using cannabis-based products from Unique Therapeutics.

After three months, his condition stabilized — without surgery, without amputation, and without hospitalization.

Tadeášek came into the world as a sensitive and perceptive child. From an early age, however, he faced many challenges — a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, a severe form of ADHD, outbursts of anger, difficulty concentrating, and significant sensory overload. All of this brought moments of despair for him and his entire family. School didn’t know how to help, assistants alternated between patience and helplessness, and at home exhaustion prevailed.

But his mother, Kateřina, never stopped searching for a way forward. We also signed a cooperation agreement with our Canadian partners, specifically with Herbal Dispatch Inc., represented by Mr. Philip Campbell. Herbal Dispatch is one of the licensed companies for the cultivation of medical cannabis and its processing into extracts.

During the conference, we also had the opportunity to discuss a number of interesting and concrete business cases that we plan to implement in the near future.

I would like to share our experience with the products we have been using for quite some time. These include mainly CBD and CBG in nano form (spray), individually and in combination (CBD/CBG), as well as CBD gummies and the Full Spectrum nano spray.

We have been using these products for a long time, during which much has happened in our lives. Therefore, we can assess their effects on both the body and the mind — including their help in processing deep trauma, even in a child with a disability.

Our daughter (at the time of writing this article, early 2024, fifteen years old) has epilepsy and autism, suffers from severe anxiety, and has central muscle hypotonia. It was mainly for her that we initially wanted to try CBD. I must immediately praise the company’s approach. Communication with their representative was not only kind but also very professional from the beginning. I truly appreciate the flexible advice regarding products, dosages, and usage, as well as the fact that the company cooperates with doctors. We agreed right from the start to inform our specialists about product use. This professional approach inspired my trust immediately.

Our very first contact with Green Pharmaceutics was in December 2021. At that time, our daughter was suffering from epileptic seizures (both grand mal and petit mal). Having heard about the beneficial effects of CBD, I contacted the company for advice. I knew nothing about CBG then, let alone the combination of both. I received immediate guidance, and together with the company’s representative, we found a form suitable for our daughter’s use (she is highly hypersensitive and does not tolerate certain medications well, but the spray turned out to be ideal). The representative knew right away that a child with autism can be sensitive to different forms of treatment — another reason I knew we were in good hands.

The effects of the introduced CBD and CBG were visible almost immediately — within just a few days. The major seizures disappeared, and the minor ones became much less frequent. When we tried a tolerance break after several months, the change was evident right away — the seizures became stronger again.

You might think there’s nothing more to add. However, our lives were soon struck by severe trauma.

The first came when we tragically and unexpectedly lost our assistance dog. Sadly, he died in my arms in a taxi, right in front of the vet’s office. My daughter was there with me. It was — and still is — an enormous trauma, especially for a child with multiple disabilities. But that was not all.

Only three months later, another tragedy occurred. My husband (our daughter’s father) almost cut off his hand with a grinder while working. Although skilled doctors at the Department of Plastic Surgery in Prague’s Vinohrady Hospital managed to save his hand, it will probably never be 100% functional again. Needless to say, this deeply affected the entire family. But even that wasn’t the end — another “surprise” came less than a year later.

Our daughter, as a holder of a disability card (ZTP/P), had a car partially funded by a state contribution (the child is the official owner, while the parent is the operator). You read that right — had. Less than a year later, another driver failed to yield and didn’t even stop at a “STOP” sign. Our daughter was in the car. Physically, no one was hurt, but it was yet another massive trauma — and the car was completely wrecked.

These are the traumas we faced. The result? Our daughter completely hit rock bottom — and with her, the whole family. She began suffering frequent grand mal seizures. As her neurologist said: “The video you sent me shows a major seizure that can even result in sudden death. The next stage would be status epilepticus,” (a condition with about 30% mortality). This was in late summer 2023. And that’s when the fight on all fronts began.

We stayed home with our daughter, stopped all activities — she couldn’t even leave the apartment without having a seizure. We had to remove her bed and replace it with a futon on the floor, because she would fall out of bed during seizures and get injured. We worked closely with her neurologist and psychiatrist to balance her treatment. Both specialists support the use of CBD and CBG. For about a month, she mostly rested and slept a lot. Meanwhile, we started arranging for a medical stroller so we could eventually go outside again. Why a stroller? Because it offers safety — it’s low to the ground, has protective sides (so seizures can happen safely), and can be covered to reduce sensory overload.

Around September 2023, when we still didn’t have the stroller, it was impossible to even leave the apartment. Immediate seizures would occur. Among the most effective things that helped reduce them were CBD, CBG, and Full Spectrum. At first, our daughter used Full Spectrum, but later one of her new medications became incompatible with THC, so, after consulting with her psychiatrist, we returned to CBD and CBG. Their effects are immediate — whenever our daughter senses what she calls “her body shutting down,” she sprays CBD and CBG, and within minutes the problem passes.

I won’t claim these products cure epilepsy — but I will say, without hesitation, that they significantly help reduce the seizures. I am sure they help push back the “monster” that epilepsy is.

They also strongly reduce anxiety. When using CBD and CBG, our daughter is much calmer and better able to cope with fear. This, in turn, opens the door to therapy and overall psychological healing. Thanks to this, we have been able to partially resume the therapies she was used to — now in a home-based form. So, a music therapist, physiotherapist, and occupational therapist visit us. We also stay in touch online with a specialist for autistic children and with her psychiatrist. And you know what? This setup works beautifully for us. We’ve essentially brought the good energy (and our wonderful therapists) right into our home.

A huge help for our daughter — and for us — is also her new assistance dog. His presence reopened the trauma of losing her first dog, but it also gives us the chance to heal that trauma — again with the help of CBD and CBG.

As for me, I use Full Spectrum. Its effects are almost immediate — I feel calmer, more balanced, more focused, and simply more energized. I believe it’s the reason I didn’t end up needing antidepressants. My husband, who also tried it, says the same. After his accident, he also used Phoenix Tears, which greatly helped heal the scar on his injured hand. Of course, this wasn’t the only thing we used (we also use a Bioptron lamp, and my husband exercises diligently), but the benefits were clear — confirmed by both medical professionals and therapists.

If you’re waiting for a happy ending — here it is ☺. I hope I’m not jinxing it, but we’ve slowly started going outside again. Yes, with the stroller, but… our daughter sometimes even gets out of it. Yesterday, for example, she wanted to test if her assistance dog Dráček would find her if she ran away. And yes — he did!

The visit took place at the invitation of Dr. Andriy Vilenskyi, PhD, Director of the Superhumans Center and Advisor to the Minister of Health of Ukraine.
Together, we discussed opportunities for collaboration between Superhumans Center and Unique Therapeutics Globalin the field of research and development of new therapeutic approaches.
The goal is to combine our expertise and research capabilities to create a joint scientific project focused on the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among war victims.

During our discussions, we jointly formulated a proposal for a clinical study aimed at investigating the use of nano-liposomal CBD as a potential supportive therapy for patients suffering from the psychological consequences of war.
Teams from both organizations are now collaborating on the project and preparing the necessary documentation. The clinical study is currently undergoing registration and ethical review.

Based on our agreement with Dr. Vilenskyi, we have also approached the National Institute of Mental Health (NUDZ)and the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (VŠCHT) with an invitation to participate in the project.
The aim is to establish an international scientific collaboration connecting Czech and Ukrainian research institutions in the search for new, evidence-based approaches to mental health care.

As part of our visit, we also toured the Superhumans Center facilities, where we observed the teams developing and fitting upper and lower limb prostheses and providing comprehensive rehabilitation to patients.
We were impressed by the professionalism, organization, and clear focus on quality of care demonstrated by everyone at the center.

This joint initiative between the Superhumans Center, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and Unique Therapeutics Global represents an important step towards linking medical research with practical rehabilitation.
We believe that this collaboration will generate new insights that can expand treatment options for post-traumatic conditions and improve the quality of life for those most affected by the war.
